JACK PURCELL ORIGINS

Jack Purcell was a Canadian National Badminton Champion from the 1920s through the 1940s, virtually remaining undefeated until his retirement. Frustrated with the lack of protection and support available in badminton footwear of the day, he designed his own; a canvas and rubber sneaker with a signature "smile" across its toe. In 1972, the Jack Purcell sneaker joined the Converse family, never looking back. Like the Chuck Taylor All Star before it, the versatile sneaker with a simple, vintage look was organically adopted by those outside of sports, including fashionistas and professionals. The Jack Purcell sneaker continues to celebrate personal style and casual refinement.
